TRUCK REPAIR FACILITY-HERMITAGE,PA

This large truck repair facility located just east of Youngstown Ohio was recently bought by a new company. When looking to renovate their facility they quickly realized they had some major flooring issues. This 17,000 square foot facility had a large amount of unsound concrete. The floor had been improperly repaired previously and resulted in a large amount of unbonded concrete patches that had to be removed before proceeding with any system. The main culprits to the failing concrete were too thin of concrete patching, too shallow of rebar depth, and excessive water penetration into the slab resulting in a large amount of rust accumulation on the rebar. Our team quickly tested the floor to identify all unsuitable concrete. We then removed this concrete with the use of our milling head, and removed any rusted rebar. We then patched the missing concrete with a special cement mortar that allows for more shallow depth and rapid cure time. After removing multiple dumpsters worth of concrete we decided the best system for this building and future business would be a ¼ inch epoxy mortar overlay. This system was then finished off with two high wear, and chemical resistant coatings, with the end result not only being a functional floor, but a peace of mind in performance characteristics. This floor now has close to a 10,000 psi compressive strength, which is more than double typical concrete, and is going to be chemical resistant and waterproof, ready to tackle anything a truck repair facility will throw at it.
